Introduction to Firearms and Shooting

The wind this weekend was anything but predictable—and recognizing those subtle changes paid big dividends.

That’s what I enjoy most about find, range, and engage matches like NRL Hunter. They force you to run your gear efficiently while constantly adapting to real-time conditions.

On this stage, I was locked in through the first three targets. Then target four reminded me how quickly things can change. I broke the first shot a little high, made a correction—but missed the shift in the wind and sent the second shot just off the back edge.

Small miss. Big lesson.

That’s the game—stay present, read the conditions, and adjust fast.

Another great weekend at the range with good friends at the Leupold Southern Hunting Challenge @nrlhunter match.

Challenging winds and well-hidden targets definitely raised the difficulty level.

After two straight weekends of competition, our gear has been put through the wringer—rain, mud, wind, and dust—and it never missed a beat.

My @seekinsprecision_official PH3 NRL continues to exceed expectations. The consistency, accuracy, and reliability of this rifle make it easy to trust when the clock is running and the conditions get tough.

But as always, the best part of these weekends isn’t the scorecard.

It’s the time spent with great friends. The scores will fade, but the stories, the laughs, and the memories will not.

This is factory Hornady ELD Match out of my @seekinsprecision_official PH3 NRL producing extremely low SDs and very consistent velocity spreads.

Modern factory ammo has come a long way, and when you pair it with a well-built rifle like the PH3 NRL, the results speak for themselves.

This past weekend I really put my @eberlestock gear to work—and it performed at every level.

I’m running the Mission Assault Pack mounted to the Mission EMOD Frame, and the combination is both comfortable and incredibly stable under load. With the abundance of MOLLE webbing, you can dial in the configuration to fit exactly what you need for the mission.

I also added the Mission ARC, which allowed me to secure my rifle and keep my hands free when we had to cover longer ground between stages. That setup made a huge difference over the course of the weekend.

For my binos, I’m using the Bravo Modular Bino Pack. I’ve run several versions of Eberlestock bino harnesses over the years, and this one is easily the best yet—solid, functional, and well thought out.

Hump day and already thinking about the next one.

@nrlhunter match #2 for me this season is coming up this weekend at The Arena in Georgia. Looking forward to another weekend of tough stages, good friends, and seeing what the terrain and conditions throw at us.

One thing I know I can rely on is my @seekinsprecision_official PH3 NRL rifle. It’s reliability, accuracy and consistency let’s me focus on reading the wind, building solid positions, and managing the clock.

Now it’s time to pack the gear and get ready to send it.
