Introduction to Firearms and Shooting

Congratulations to my friends and the team at @eberlestock on the success of their first Community Ruck in Boise yesterday.

I wasn’t able to be there, but I still wanted to support the effort. So this morning, I threw on a 40-pound pack and knocked out 5 miles with the only rucking partner I could find at 5:30 AM—Easton.

No complaints, no excuses, and he’s always happy to go wherever the trail leads.

Congrats again to everyone who came out and made the event such a success. Hopefully I’ll be able to join you in person next time.

A quick stage from this weekend’s local PRS match. I used it as a tune-up for my next NRL Hunter match in a couple of weeks.

These local matches are a great opportunity to test new gear, experiment with different positions, and sharpen the fundamentals under the pressure of a timer. When you’re used to a 4-minute clock in NRL Hunter, 90 seconds in PRS goes by in a hurry. It forces you to be extremely efficient with your setup, transitions, and movement.

No matter how a stage goes, I always walk away with a few lessons learned that I can carry into the next match.

That’s one of the things I enjoy most about this sport—there’s always something new to learn and another skill to improve.

Hump day so I took it to the streets early this morning with the pack to log the miles. Finished with air squats, push ups, straight leg sit ups and jump rope. ...

Last weekend in Idaho, I had the chance to spend time in the mountains with some great friends who have become like family.

The older I get, the more I understand that real wealth isn’t found in possessions. It’s found in the people who walk beside us, the experiences we share, and the memories that stay with us long after the trip is over.

Grateful for every mile, every conversation, and every friendship.

That’s a wrap. Time to head home.

The Snake River match was set in some of the most incredible country I’ve ever had the opportunity to experience. Towering mountains, endless views, and an amazing creek cutting through the landscape created an unreal backdrop for 2 days of shooting.

@michael_berger21 and I were grateful for the chance to spend the weekend with some of the best people we know while tackling 19 challenging stages over two days, engaging a wide variety of targets in some seriously demanding terrain.
Matches like this are about far more than just the shooting — they’re about the friendships, teamwork, and shared experiences that make this community so special.

@michael_berger21 and I shot our first NRL Hunter team match this weekend in the mountains of Idaho, and it turned out to be one of the most physically demanding matches we’ve ever done.

Challenging targets, long distances, steep terrain, and some seriously high-angle shots tested every part of the game — from movement and communication to wind calls and execution under pressure.

Overall, we were really pleased with how we performed, but even more with how well we worked together throughout each stage. Communication stayed solid, movements were efficient, and when corrections were needed, we made good elevation and wind adjustments that kept us in the fight all weekend.

We were also running some new gear this match, and our @seekinsprecision_official PH3 NRL rifles performed flawlessly from start to finish despite the dust, terrain, and constant movement. Confidence in your equipment matters when conditions get tough, and the rifles delivered exactly when we needed them to.

Team matches expose weaknesses fast, and this one reinforced how important trust, communication, and staying composed really are when the clock is running.
